James (Bert) Miller, Sr.

James (Bert) Miller, Sr., 92, of Oak Hill, WV died Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center, Beckley, WV. Born July 12, 1921 at Sipsey, Alabama, he was the son of the late Elbert Lester and Barbara Ann Aaron Miller. Mr. Miller retired as chief electrician at Milburn Colliery Company. He was a member of Crossroads Apostolic Holiness Church at Bradley and a U. S. Army veteran having served in World War II. His first wife, Pauline Miller; his second wife, Helen Miller and a son, Gary Allen Miller, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Agnes Cook Miller; three sons, James “Jimmy” Miller and his wife, Margaret of Scarbro, WV, Troy Miller of Cottondale, AL, Barry Miller and his wife, Pam of Sevierville, TN; two daughters, Barbara Crisco and husband, James of Mooresville, NC and Margaret Honaker and husband, Ed, of Davidson, NC.; ten grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1:00 P. M. Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at the Crossroads Apostolic Holiness Church, Bradley with Rev. Roger Frye and Rev. David Christman officiating. Burial will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill with military rites conducted by VFW Post #3110. Friends may call from 6:00 until 8:00 P. M. Tuesday evening, March 18, 2014 at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
