James Carl Mcghee, Sr.

James Carl McGhee, Sr., age 83, of Newton, NC passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013 at his residence. Born January 17, 1930 in Eccles, WV, he was the son of the late Joseph Harden and Nora Pearl Cozort McGhee. James was a retired Ford auto worker, a US Army veteran and a member of UAW. He was a member of Maiden Church of God, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Iris McGhee and Alma Fay Conars and a brother, Albert McGhee. He is survived by his wife, Melinda Smith McGhee; two daughters, Viola May McGhee of Newton and Donna Louise Knapp and husband, Thomas of Hickory; a son, James Carl McGhee, Jr. of Hickory; 5 Grandsons and 2 Great Grandsons A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday July 29, 2013 at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Hope, WV with burial following at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, WV.
