James D. Mcclaskey, Sr.

June 28, 1926 — December 10, 2010

James D. McClaskey, Sr.,84, of Oak Hill, WV died on Friday, December 10, 2010 at Southwestern Medical Center in Waynesburg, PA. He was a retired pharmaceutical salesman for Kanawha Drug and Miami-Lukem Pharmaceutic Companies, a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Oak Hill United Methodist Church. Born June 28, 1926 at Thayer, WV, he was the son of the late Clarence Dewey and Marguritte E. Wynes McClaskey. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Alma Mae Rhodes McClaskey on February 4, 2007. Surviving are his children: Tana Higginbotham of Oak Hill, James D. McClaskey, Jr.(Kathy) of Charlotte, NC, Linda Jasper(Sam, Sr.) of Fayetteville, Cindy Hysell(Steve, Sr.) of Oak Hill, Doug McClaskey, Sr. (Linda) of Waynesburg, PA, Crystal Ryan of Oak Hill, and one sister, Peggy Farrish (Walt) of Oak Hill. Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren, Leslie Higginbotham, Mandy Higginbotham, Patrick McClaskey, Micheal McClaskey, Noah McClaskey, Nina McClaskey, Sam Jasper, Jr., Shelli Jasper, Steve Hysell, Jr., Christopher Hysell, Heather Willoughby, Doug McClaskey, Jr., Amber Hurd, Bradley Ryan and Brandon Ryan; thirteen great-grandchildren, Taylor Buchanan, Craig Buchanan, Jackson Smith, Alle Ray Legg, Sammy Jasper III, Ashley Jasper, Sydni Efird, Saylor Efird, Brianna Hysell, Alexis Hysell, Dennis Willoughby IV, Derrek Willoughby and Logan Hurd. He is also survived by nieces, Joy Farrish, Amy Nibert, Beth Frommer, and nephew, Walt Farrish III. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Monday at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Pastor Jerry Bush officiating. Burial will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Monday. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Sammy Jasper, Jr., Brandon Ryan, Bradley Ryan, Patrick McClaskey, Michael McClaskey and Steve Hysell, Jr. Donations of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Oak Hill Public Library, 611 Main Street West, Oak Hill, WV 25901 or the Oak Hill Church of the Nazarene Food Pantry, PO Box 22, Oak Hill, WV 25901.
