James D. Lafferty

James "Papaw" D. Lafferty, 85, of Pax, WV died on Thursday, April 14, 2005 at Carillion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. Born April 07, 1920 at Willis Branch, WV he was the son of the late Frank and Rosa Williams Lafferty. He was retired from the WV Department of Highways. Mr. Lafferty was a member of the Weirwood Community Church, Weirwood, WV, and its very supportive congregation. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and "papaw" to many. He was preceded in death by his precious wife, Nora Mae Thomas Lafferty; four brothers, Dillian, Winton, Troy and Denny Ray Lafferty; three sisters, Lillian Woolwine, Mabel Feazell and Dixie Pennington. Survivors include daughter, Shirley Buckland and husband, R.L., of Elyria, OH; son, Glenn Lafferty and wife, Patsy, of Moneta, VA; brother, Eugene Lafferty of Beckley; one sister, Margie Tyree of Beckley; ten grandchildren, Randall, Bobby, Debbie, Edwina, Julie, Ray, Todd and Allen of Elyria, OH; and Vicki Lynn and Amy Sue of Moneta, VA; twelve great grandchildren and one great grandchild; four sisters-in-law, Patty Jean Ruhl and Bonnie Britt of Ohio, Aretta Lilly of Daniels and Pearl Lafferty of Oak Hill. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope on Sunday, April 17, 2005, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM and on Monday, April 18, 2005, at Weirwood Community Church from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM Services will be on Monday, April 18, 2005, at 1:00 P.M. at Weirwood Community Church in Weirwood with Tom Lilly officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity WV. Pallbearers will be Gary Maynor, Mike Hines, Roger Lafferty, Gary Lafferty, David Allen and Carl Allen.
