James Franklin Helmintoller

July 9, 1938 — December 3, 2011

James Franklin “Jim” Helmintoller, 73, of Franklin, Tenn. formerly of Mount Hope, WV died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011 at his home with his wife and children by his side. He was born July 9, 1938 to parents William and Nellie Kincaid Helmintoller. He lived in and around Mount Hope, WV most of his life. He worked in the color pigment industry for 43 years. His commitment to children was evident by his involvement with Williamson County Soccer Association since moving to Franklin in 1977 and in recent years past was head coach at Centennial High School. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Dorothy Keener. Mr. Helmintoller is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sharon Elkins Helmintoller; children: Jeff (Christine) Helmintoller of Gallatin, Tenn., Lori Helmintoller of Hendersonville, Tenn., Betsy (Dwayne) Burress of Franklin, Tenn., and Joey (LeAnne) Helmintoller of Franklin, Tenn.; grandchildren, Shayla and Drew Helmintoller of Gallatin, Tenn., Brandon (Penny) Burress of Spring Hill, Tenn., Kristen Burress of Franklin, Tenn., and Elli Helmintoller of Franklin, Tenn.; and sister Evelyn Horrocks of Parma, Ohio. Mr. Helmintoller was also an active member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church where Pastor Michael Lippard will conduct a memorial service Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011 at 11 a.m. followed by inurnment at the church columbarium. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. prior to service with lunch and fellowship following service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to the Meditation Garden or Pipe Organ Fund at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 908 Murfreesboro Road, Franklin, TN 37064.
