James Bonner Debord

James Bonner DeBord, 79, of Oak Hill, WV passed away peacefully at home on Sunday at 9:32 pm, Dec. 13, 2009. Born August 10, 1930 in Saltville Va., he was the oldest son of the late James M. DeBord and Louise Olinger DeBord. In addition to his parents his brother, Moses DeBord, nephew, Gary DeBord, niece, Rebecca Brackman, sisters-in-law, Roberta Brackman and Christine DeBord and his in-laws, Arnold and Nadine Brackman, preceded him in death. Bonner is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Linda Brackman DeBord and children, James B. DeBord Jr. of Swords Creek, Va., Cathy Levitt and husband, Mike of Gig Harbor, Washington, Andrew E. DeBord and wife, Patricia of Troutdale, Va. David DeBord of Gassaway, WV, Michelle DeBord of Daniels, WV, and Dana Martin and fiancé, Rob Williams of Oak Hill. Others survivors include brother, Hershel DeBord and sister, Evelyn Kelly and husband, George of Bristol Va., brothers-in-law, David Brackman of Spring, TX and Donald Brackman and wife, Jamie of Nineveh, IN, and sister-in-law, Paige DeBord of Saltville, VA. His surviving grandchildren are Justin Martin, Ashley LaCasse, Chase Kincaid DeBord, Michelle Allen, Sarah McFarlane, Rachel Bright, Jennifer Underwood, Adam Frandsen, Justin DeBord, Andrew DeBord and Gregory DeBord, and great grandchildren: Braylon, Brittany, Isaac, Dakota, Alek, Makenzie, Jackson, McKade, Kaleb, Gabriel, Aidan and seven nephews and five nieces and many great-nephews and nieces. Bonner retired in 2000 from Campbell Tractor and Equipment of Summersville where he sold heavy equipment. He also worked at Long Airdox for many years as a Plant Manager at Lochgelly and then 3 years in Huntington, Utah. He loved everyone and never met a stranger and so enjoyed his morning breakfasts with his friends at McDonalds. Bonner was a member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church. He was a vital supporter and worker of the yearly summer missionary work teams, where he made long lasting relationships with many of the missionary groups. Bonner was a charter member of the Plateau Club of Oak Hill and also a longtime member at White Oak Country Club. He had a great love for the game of golf and enjoyed his many golf trips with his fellow golfers. Services will be on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Oak Hill United Methodist Church with Dr. Charles Miller officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Friends may call from 12:30 PM until service time on Thursday at the church. The pallbearers are Duke Ramsey, Willis “Bo “ Wooten, Vince Sundstrom, Rick Pannell, Dr. Charles Akers, and Emory McGuffin. Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Scott Keffer and Dr. Clinton Curtis. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Volunteers in Missions, c/o Oak Hill United Methodist Church, 205 East Main Street, Oak Hill WV 25901.
