James Ray Carter

James Ray Carter, 68, of Mount Hope, WV died on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley, WV. Born December 13, 1939 at Scarbro, WV he was the son of the late William Ray and Ruth Evelyn Harmon Carter. Mr. Carter was a self employed carpenter & roofer. He was a US Army veteran, having served for seven years. A son, Troy preceded him in death. Survivors include two daughters, Carrean of Washington state and Kimberly of Indiana; three sisters, Glenna Carter of Mount Hope, Margaret Carol Stump of Mount Hope and Barbara Louise Lyle of Atlanta, GA; four brothers, Robert Carter of Oak Hill, Ronald Carter of Crab Orchard, Richard Carter of Atlanta, GA and Thomas Carter of New York and by several nieces and nephews. Services will be on April 26, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope with Rev. Robert Barley officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity WV. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home on Friday, April 25, 2008 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
