James Lloyd Adkins

James Lloyd Adkins, 82, of Kincaid, WV, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley, WV. Born August 20, 1931 at Kincaid , WV, he was the son of the late Carbet Earl and Beatrice Marie Kincaid Adkins. Mr. Adkins was a retired coal miner. He was a mine rescue squad member and served his country with the US Army during the Korean War. James was a very friendly people person. He loved gardening and sharing the bounty of his harvest with family and friends and was an avid hunter. A brother Charles Edward Adkins preceded him in death. He leaves behind a loving family which includes his wife of 61 years, Ethel L. Shaver Adkins; son, Lloyd Dewayne Adkins of Smithers, Canada; daughter, Sheila Ann Walker of Oak Hill; four grandchildren, Keith Stanley and wife, Terri, of Kincaid, Jennifer Stanley and partner, Shelly of Charleston, Brandon Adkins and wife, Jamie of Kentucky and Troy Adkins of Tennessee; and five great grandchildren, Kevin, Alexis, Issack, Xavier and Brook. Also surviving are two sisters, Phyllis Ann Ludwig and husband Lee of Peterstown, and Sharon Sue Robertson and husband L.A of Georgia. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at the Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Pastor Delmas Wolfe officiating. Entombment will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill with military graveside rites conducted by Oak Hill VFW Post #3110. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to services on Wednesday, October 16, 2013. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Kincaid United Methodist Church, PO Box 146, Kincaid, WV 25119.
