Ivora M. Rhodes Scarbrough

Ivora Minnie Rhodes Scarbrough , 87, of Oak Hill, WV died on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV. Born February 24, 1927 at Cunard, WV she was the daughter of the late Henry and Cleo Cody Rhodes. She was a retired nursing assistant. Mrs. Scarbrough was a member of the Memorial Baptist Church in Beckley. Her husband of 67 years, Elmer R. Scarbrough preceded her in death as did a son, Dexter P. Scarbrough, a grandson, "Baby Adam", two brothers and one sister. Survivors include one daughter, Donna R. Pyles of Purcellville, VA; four sons, Delbert A. Scarbrough and wife, Dela of Fredricksburg, VA, Douglas A. Scarbrough and wife, Tammy of Enoree, SC, Kavin D. Scarbrough and wife, Gay of Rock Hill, SC and Ivan M. Scarbrough and wife, Sheryl of Bluefield; one brother, Henry Rhodes of Crescent City, FL and four sisters, Lillian Roberts of Ohio, Ada Legg of Oak Hill, Ruby Rickard of Commerce Township, MI and Elsie Sexton of Fayetteville. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Dr. Sharon Miller officiating. Entombment will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the New River Humane Society, PO Box 955, Fayetteville WV 25840.
