Isabelle Sesler Tyree

Isabelle Sesler Tyree , 92, of Oak Hill, WV succumbed on Monday, December 31, 2012 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV. Born November 04, 1920 at Page, WV she was the daughter of the late Charles Harrison Sesler, Sr. and Laura Bessie Coleman Sesler. Retired from the Fayette County Board of Education with 32 1/2 years service, Mrs. Tyree was a much beloved Home Economics teacher having taught for 30 years at Oak Hill High School/Collins High School. She retired in 1975. She was vice president of Tyree Funeral Home, Inc. of Oak Hill and Mount Hope. A 1939 graduate of Montgomery High School, she received a medal for being the most outstanding band member. She went on to graduate from Marshall College now Marshall University in 1943 where she was selected to represent Marshall in the Who's Who of American Colleges and Universities. Isabelle was a long-time member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church. Her community involvement and memberships included being a member of the Marshall Alumni Association, University of Virginia Alumni Association, OHHS/CHS Alumni Association, Association of Retired School Employees, AARP and the Metropolitan Opera Guild. A former member of the Spade and Trowel Garden Club, she had proudly served as an instructor for the National Garden Club Flower Show Schools and was a National Flower Show Judge. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Hidden Valley Nursing and Rehab, The Summit at Hidden Valley and Bowers Hospice House for the wonderful care Isabelle has received this past year. Her only brother, Charles Harrison Sesler, Jr. preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Joseph “Joe” Tyree, sister-in-law, Myrtle Sesler Rutherford of Dolores, CO, niece, Mary Houseman of Colorado, nephew, Robert Sesler of Colorado, three great nieces, one great-great nephew and four great-great nieces. She is also survived by her many cousins including Clyde Coleman, Thomas M. Mason and wife, Jonetta, Jennie Lee Mason and Martha Kay Irwin. Funeral services will be on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. David Sneed, Rev. Bryan Knight and Rev. Delmas Wolfe officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Employees of Tyree Funeral Home will serve as pallbearers.
