Irene Humphrey Price

August 12, 1923 — July 11, 2005

Irene Frances Humphrey Price, 81, of Carlisle, WV joined her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 11, 2005 at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. Born August 12, 1923 at Pax, WV she was the daughter of the late Roy Odie and Lucy Jane Treadway Humphrey. Irene was a homemaker and was devoted to her family, church, friends and neighbors. She was a member of the Carlisle First Church of God. She was very active in her church and community having obtained recognition for her past volunteer work with the American Heart Association and March of Dimes. She found joy in cooking and baking for others. Her husband, Meme Price and two brothers, Aubrey and Lloyd Humphrey preceded her in death. Survivors include her five children, Donny Price and wife, Karen, of Fayetteville, NC; Sharon McClung and husband, Keith, of Raleigh, NC; LaVon Berthelot and husband, Hank, of Metairie, LA; Tony Price and wife, Susie, of Anderson, IN; and Melissa Hinte and husband, Eddie, of Carlisle, WV; one brother, Ted Humphrey of Beckley; four sisters, Mabel Price of Oak Hill, WV Rosalie Treadway of Scarbro, WV, Joann Pannell and Rita Turner both of Beckley, WV. Nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive her. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, WV on Thursday, July 14, 2005, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Services will be on Thursday, July 14, 2005 at 3:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Rev. Gene Bowen and Marie Underwood officiating. Entombment will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum #3, Prosperity WV. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia or Carlisle First Church of God, Box 6, Scarbro WV 25917. Pallbearers will be Dean Berthelot, Jon Berthelot, Sean Berthelot, Tom McClung, Tim Price and Mark Fisher. Honorary pallbearer will be Sgt. Joshua Peters who is serving with the US Army in Iraq.
