Irene Deanna Helton Leonard , 75, of Fayetteville, WV died on Friday, July 08, 2016 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV.
Born January 24, 1941 at Oak Hill, WV she was the daughter of the late Thomas Leroy Helton and Pauline Ferreo Helton Gilkerson.
Irene enjoyed providing personal care to those in need having worked as a certified nursing assistant for various nursing homes. She was of the Pentecostal faith. Her hobbies included gardening and crocheting.
Her husband, John Leonard; stepfather, Thomas Gilkerson, Sr.; son, Timothy Leonard; sister, Gloria Jean Wyatt and brother, Tommy Helton preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Michael Leonard of Oak Hill; three daughters, Vanessa Elder and husband, Gary, of Oak Hill, Mona Leonard of North Carolina and Monica Leonard of Texas; and siblings, Shirley Murray of Harvey, Mary Phillips and husband, Earl, of Ohio, Paulette Green of Beckley, Janica Murray and husband, Bill, of Oak Hill, Billie Sue Helton of Logan and Thomas Gilkerson, Jr. and wife, Charlotte of Oak Hill.
She is also survived by grandchildren, Tonya Mason, James Webb, Jr., Crystal Farley, Elizabeth Scott, and Zachary Templeton; and eleven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Robert Burnett officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
