Hubert D. "Duck" Roberts

Hubert Daniel “Duck” Roberts , 70, of Pax, WV died on Monday, July 25, 2011 at Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley, WV. Born November 01, 1940 at Kilsyth, WV. His birth parents were late Sherman and Letta Lorena Thomas Roberts and he was raised by the late John D. Blake. He was a retired coal miner for A.T. Massey at Elk Run with 27 years service. Mr. Roberts was of the Protestant faith and was a US Air Force veteran. He was preceded in death by a son, Barry Wayne Roberts and a sister, Barbara Tyree preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Shirley Ewing Roberts, two sons, Terry Roberts and wife, Jeanette of Mabscott and Craig Roberts and wife, Valerie of Point Pleasant, two brothers, J.D. Blake and wife, Ruth Ann of Columbia, SC and James Wayne Blake of Reading, PA and two sisters, Tericina Applegit and husband, John of Taylors, SC and Noretta Wagner and husband, David of Taylors, SC. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a host of special nieces and nephews and other family members. Graveside rites and committal services will be on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 1:30 P.M. at Pax Community Cemetery with Pastor Wayne Peters officiating. Burial will follow. Friends may call at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope on Thursday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
