Howard Elwood Pennington

Howard Elwood Pennington , 78, of East Kingston, WV went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family after a long illness. Born May 08, 1935 at Collinsdale, WV he was the son of the late Oscar and Mona Conley Pennington. Howard was a retired coal miner having been a main line motor operator. A longtime guitar picker he attended the Willis Branch Community Church. His wife Sylvia Jean Wriston Pennington preceded him in death. He was also preceded by a son, Willard Pennington, brothers, Walter, Delbert, Elbert, James, Kenneth, Luther and Sherlie “Basil” Pennington and sisters Sarah Scott and Mable Barrett. Survivors include one daughter, Rachel Toney of East Kingston; and six sons, Jackie Pennington and wife, Brenda of Oak Hill, Eddie Pennington of Dothan, Frankie Pennington and girlfriend, Jennifer of Dothan, Johnny Pennington and wife, Dee Dee of Scarbro, Benjamin Pennington and wife, Ethel of Hilltop and Westley Pennington and wife, Sarah of Scarbro. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lori, J.J., Teaira, Harley, Shana, Trevor, Matt, Frankie Lee, Tiffany K., Barry, Lydia, Jeffrey, Justin, Paul, Alyana, Nicholas, Anthony, Luke and Stacey and two great grandchildren, Preston and Levi as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor Lum Toney officiating. Burial will be at Pax Community Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
