Howard Lilly, Jr.

Howard Lilly Jr., 79, of Mount Hope, WV died on Friday, May 28, 2010 at Hilltop Center in Hilltop, WV. Born March 12, 1931 at Maynor, WV he was the son of the late Howard and Lura Belle Williams Lilly, Sr. He was retired coal miner having last worked for for Perry & Hylton. Howard was a devout Christian and a member of the Mount Hope Christian Church where he had served as a deacon; was a US Army veteran and an antique car collector. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Don Lilly and Harry Lilly; one sister, Dorothy Lambert. Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Elmore Lilly; one son, John H. Lilly and his wife, Frances of LaPorte, Texas; two daughters, Phyllis Putnam of Mount Hope and Twyla Brown of Surfside, South Carolina; one brother, Robert Lilly of Orlando, Florida; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday evening at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope. Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Mount Hope with Minister Ken Overdorf officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity with military graveside rites being conducted by VFW Post 3110, Oak Hill.
