Homer Herbert Legg Jr., 79, of Oak Hill, WV died on Saturday, July 24, 2004 at home following a long illness. Born October 10, 1924 at Wyndal, WV he was the son of the late Homer H. Legg, Sr. and Estella Childers Legg. He was a retired coal miner for Central Appalachian Coal, Morris Creek with 38 years service. Mr. Legg was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Oak Hill, WV, where he served on the church board, was a choir member, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and was a Junior High Boys Councilor. He was a member of the UMWA District #17, Local #9619. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harless, Tracey and Harry Legg and a sister, Vera Olga Legg. Survivors include wife, Betty Gay Miller Legg; daughter, Donna Gay Legg Hendrickson and her husband, John, of Oak Hill; grandson, John Wesley Hendrickson of Oak Hill; sisters, Mozelle Cox of Pounding Mill, VA and Pauline Legg of Fayetteville Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, on Tuesday, July 27, 2004, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Service will be Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at 2:00 P.M. at the Church of the Nazarene, Oak Hill, WV with Rev. Jerry Bush and Rev. Leroy Hostutler officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill, WV with military graveside rites by VFW Post #3110, Oak Hill. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Church of the Nazarene, PO Box 22, Oak Hill, WV 25901.
