Homer H. Aliff

August 26, 1916 — June 20, 2005

Homer Harrison Aliff, age 88, of Myrtle Beach, SC formerly of Pax, WV passed away Monday, June 20, 2005, at Conway Medical Center in Conway, South Carolina. Mr. Aliff , son of the late Benjamin Harrison and Elizabeth Milam Aliff, was born August 26, 1916, and was a lifelong resident of Pax, West Virginia. After suffering a stroke in late 2004, Homer and his wife began residing with their daughter in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. During his life, Homer wore many hats and was a jack of all trades. He worked with his father in the first taxi stand in Pax, served as the Pax Fire Chief, owned and operated coal trucks, raised cattle on his farm and finally retired from JO Lively as a mechanic. Homer had many interests, including being an avid race car fan. He and his wife attended fifty years of NASCAR at Darlington Speedway and more than thirty years at both Daytona International Speedway and the Indianapolis Speedway. However, Homer's greatest passion was spending time with family and friends reflecting on old photographs and sharing memories and stories. Although Homer had the opportunity to visit many places and meet many people during his lifetime, his favorite place to "brag" about was his hometown of Pax. Homer was the beloved husband of his wife of sixty five years, Marie, a devoted father to his daughter, Diana, and an adored grandfather by his two granddaughters, Debbie and Becky, and his great-grandchildren, Toni Marie and William. A memorial service and celebration of Homer's life will be held on Sunday, July 3, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at the Pax School Gymnasium. This celebration will be a reflection of Homer; therefore, friends should feel comfortable to dress in casual attire. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Homer's memory to the Pax Regional Community Center, P.O. Box 101, Pax, WV 25904, to assist in the purchase of a public address system. Condolences may be sent to his family at 4347 Lakefront Boulevard, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina 29588.
