Herbert "Dick" Winford Bailess , 87, of Edmond, WV died on Thursday, July 08, 2010 at his home. Born July 22, 1922 at Hurt, VA he was the son of the late Willis Dotson and Margie Livingston Bailess. Dick was retired from the Central Appalachian Coal preparation plant at Montgomery. He was a member of the Beauty Mountain Baptist Church and U.M.W.A. He was a World War II US Army veteran. A son, Winford Bailess, daughter, Margaret Collins, brother, Melvin Bailess and two sisters, Ellen McFaden and Lois Rush preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Tully Bailess; son, Henry Melvin "Hank" Bailess and wife, Ann of Edmond; daughters, Lois Holliday and husband, Ted of Midlothian, VA, Frances Childress of Edmond and Donna Bailess of West Palm Beach, FL; brother, Norma Bailess of Winston-Salem, NC and sisters, Ruby Kiger of Madison Heights, VA and Mildred Hoaglin of Denver, CO. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Jennifer Holliday Speer, Erin Bailess, Chad Collins, Chris Collins, Ashley Childress, Olivia Bailess, Jonathan Bailess and Lydia Bailess. Services will be on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Beauty Mountain Baptist Church in Edmond with Brother Leroy Pack and Joe Collins officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill with military graveside rites by Oak Hill VFW Post #3110. Visitation will be held at Beauty Mountain Baptist Church on Sunday, July 11, 2010 from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
