Helen Athelene Walker Parker , 59, of Glen Jean, WV died on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at her home. Born October 20, 1954 at Oak Hill, WV she was the daughter of the late Alfred Shirley and Mildred Marie Cox Walker. Helen was a former hairdresser and a home care provider having owned Helen's Home Care. She was an active member of the Mount Hope First Assembly of God where she was President of Women's Ministries. A 1973 graduate of Fayetteville High School she also graduated from the Beckley Beauty Academy. A brother, Shirley James Cox preceded her in death. Helen is survived by a loving and devoted family which includes her husband, Jessie O. Parker; daughter, Tiffany Cottle and husband, James of Sun; two sons, Jessie Parker, Jr. and wife, Norma Kay of Pliney and Jimmy Patrick Parker and wife, Lesie Nicole of Ceredo; one brother, Alfred Houston "Pete" Cox and wife, Jo Ann of Oak Hill; three sisters, Iris Cox Poole Fortner of Oak Hill, Diana Sue Cox Walker of Mount Hope and Eunice Carroll Totten of Sun; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at Mount Hope First Assembly of God with Pastor Jessie Parker and Rev. Joan Terry officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity. Visitation will be held at Mount Hope First Assembly of God on Friday, May 2, 2014 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
