Helen V. Pomykata

Helen Vargo Pomykata, 85, of Beckley, WV passed away Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the home of her daughter, Maryann Humphrey. Born March 13, 1924 at Scarbro, WV she was the daughter of the late Mike K. and Mary Shanta Vargo. Helen was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Oak Hill and was retired from the U. S. Bureau of Mines in Mount Hope with 24 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Pomykata, brothers, Mike and Joe Vargo and a sister, Anna Vasilchak. Survivors include two daughters, Maryann Humphrey and her husband, Boyd, Jr. of Beckley and Elizabeth Tankersley Foley and her husband, Larry of Beckley; four grandsons, Daniel J. Humphrey, Neil J. Humphrey, Steven L. Tankersley, Adam P. Tankersley and wife, Amanda; one great grandchild, Isabel Tankersley. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Monday, November 9, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Oak Hill with Father Paul Yuenger officiating. Burial will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. There will be no visitation.
