Hazel "Cissie" Kent

Hazel Irene “Cissie” Abshire Kent, 89, of Beckley, West Virginia, formerly of Mount Hope, WV died at her home on Monday, July 22, 2013. Born October 26, 1923 at Mount Hope, WV, she was the daughter of the late George A. and Mabel Perry Abshire. Hazel was a retired employee of the Fayette County Board of Education as a custodian at Mount Hope Elementary School. She was a member of the Mount Hope Christian Church and the Winolia Chapter No. 59, Order of the Eastern Star, Mount Hope. She was preceded in death by her sister, Muriel Deal and two brothers, Ashby Abshire and Lewis “Tommy” Abshire. Survivors include her son, Stephen B. Kent and his wife, Michele; two grandsons, Stephen J. Kent and Logan Kent; one brother, Charles “Jim” Abshire; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Nancy Martin, Della Cole and John Creed. Graveside Rites will be 2:00 P. M. Friday, July 26, 2013 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity with Minister Dennis Kinzer officiating. Burial will follow.
