Haven P. Davis

Haven P. Davis, 83, of Maple Fork, WV, passed away Friday, November 4, 2005, at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, WV. Born April 23, 1922 at Nesco (Maple Fork), West Virginia, he was the son of the late Price and Emma Givens Davis. He was a retired Federal Mine Inspector, having retired from the Mount Hope office of the Dept. of the Interior, U.S. Bureau of Mines. He attended the Long Branch Methodist and Bradley Presbyterian Churches. He was a member of the Mount Hope Lions Club and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Mount Hope Lions Club. He was also a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Davis. Survivors include his wife, Gladys Davis of Maple Fork; a son, Haven P. Davis, II and wife, Barbara W. of Maple Fork; a daughter, Jo Adail Stephenson and husband, Gregg of Los Angeles, California; grandchildren, Sonja Williford of Grayson, GA; and Shane Davis, Birmingham, AL; great grandchildren, Colton and Emma Davis, and Keegan Williford; a sister, Frances Gallagher of Beckley; one brother, Rev. Harmon Davis of Maple Fork. Services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday at the Tyree Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Hope with the Rev. Jerry Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity. Friends may call from 6:00 until 8:00 Sunday at the funeral home. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
