Harry J. Smith

Harry J. Smith, 86, of Oak Hill, WV died on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at Hilltop Healthcare Center in Hilltop, WV. Born June 10, 1919 at Grantsville, WV he was the son of the late Walter E. and Georgia Deems Smith. He was retired from Cabot Oil & Gas, Pineville, WV with 35 years service. Harry was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Pineville, WV and the Knights of Pythias Lodge #17, Oak Hill. He was a 50 year Mason and past master of the Oak Hill Lodge No. 120 AF & AM and Pineville Lodge No. 138 AF & AM. He served in the US Army during World War II. Four brothers, John, James, Godfrey and Joe Smith and three sisters, Geneve Perrine, Grace Kyer and Virginia Sawyer preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Madeline Betts Smith; a sister-in-law, Doris Smith and by several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Friday, January 13, 2006, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Services will be on Saturday, January 14, 2006, at 1:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Rev. Robert Barley officiating. Entombment will be at High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill WV with military graveside rites by VFW Post #3110, Oak Hill and Masonic graveside rites by Oak Hill Lodge No. 120 A.F.&A.M. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Oak Hill Lodge No. 120 Building Fund, PO Box 145, Oak Hill WV 25901.
