Surrounded by his family, Harless Eugene "Gene" Cassell, 74, of Oak Hill, WV lost his courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, February 19, 2005 at his home. Born February 24, 1930 at Lockborne, OH he was the son of the late Fred and Gladys Meade Castle. He was a retired Master Sgt. for the US Army. He served his country during the Korean Conflict and the VietNam War. He was a former emloyee of Ranger Fuel Corporation. Mr. Cassell was a member of the Mountain View Church of God, Hilltop, WV. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Hospice of Southern West Virginia for their caring and understanding during their time of need. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank and Freddie Castle Gene will be sadly missed by his wife of 33 years, Sue Snuffer Cassell; daughter, Karen Kristina Hylton and husband, Bryan , of Oak Hill; his precious granddaughter, Ashyton Nicole Hylton of Oak Hill; step granddaughter, Autumn Dawn Mullins brothers, James William (Christine) Castle of Hopkinsville, KY, Roger Castle (LInda) of Bowling Green, KY and Jackie Ray (Debbie) Castle of Hopewell, VA; sister, Wanda (Charles) Salyers of Price, KY and a sister-in-law, Edith Castle of Bowling Green, KY. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, WV on Wednesday, February 23, 2005, from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. Services will be on Thursday, February 24, 2005 at 1:00 pm at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Rev. Rudell Bloomfield officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity WV with military graveside rites by VFW Post #3110, Oak Hill. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Ashyton Hylton Education Fund, PO Box 557, Oak Hill, WV 25901.
