Gustava Sweeney Evans

Gustava Sweeney Evans, 88, of Beckley, WV died on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV following a short illness. Born July 9,1919 at Sweeneysburg, WV she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Eliza Tyree Sweeney. Mrs. Evans was a member of the Calloway Heights Baptist Church, Beckley, WV and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Denny Mitchem; and her second husband, Harold D. Evans; a stepdaughter, Patsy E. Stephens and husband, Cecil; six brothers, Edra, Cecil, Grady, Dorsey, Ira, and Ray Sweeney; and a son-in-law, W. G. Nickoson. Survivors include a son, Roger Dale Mitchem and wife, Linda of Beckley; two daughters, Betty Jo Pierson and husband, George of Greensboro, NC, and Shelba Nickoson of Beckley; a brother, Basil Sweeney and wife, Mickey of Beckley; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Service will be 11 AM Tuesday, November 20, at the Calloway Heights Baptist Church in Beckley with the Pastor Bill Parker, Pastor Jeff Canterbury, and Pastor Tim Mitchem officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley. Friends may call from 6 until 8 PM Monday at the Calloway Heights Baptist Church, Beckley.
