Grady Vinson Legg , 81, of Oak Hill, WV died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at his home. Born April 16, 1930 at Oak Hill, WV he was the son of the late Chester V. Legg and Justine Lee Wickline Legg. A 1948 graduate of Oak Hill High School, Grady held a B.S. in Civil Engineering from West Virginia Institute of Technology. He retired from the WV Department of Highways in Lewisburg where he was an inspector and surveyor. An active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Oak Hill, he had been Ruling Elder and was a member of the Chancel Choir. He was a member of the Senior Circle at PMC and of the Oak Hill High/Collins High School Alumni Association. Mr. Legg loved flying. He was a 1st Lieutenant in the US Air Force (Ret.) for whom he was an accomplished jet fighter pilot during the Korean Conflict era. He was honorably discharged from the US Air Force on October 10, 1962. A sister, Betty Carol Legg, son, Scott Legg, daughter-in-law, Pam Wright and nephew David Kocholek preceded him in death. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Ada Rhodes Legg, four sons, Daniel Wright and wife, Chris of Oak Hill, Jerry Wright of Oak Hill, John Wright of Brazil and Philip Wright, Sr. of Scott Depot and a sister, Martha Kocholek and husband, Joe of Apple Valley, Minnesota. Also surviving are grandchildren, Scott Legg and wife, Holley of Conway, SC, Philip Wright, Jr. of Scott Depot, Steven Wright of Oak Hill, Jessica Wright of Scott Depot and Sarah Beth Wright of Asheville, NC and two great grandchildren, Tegan Legg and Noah Legg of Conway, SC, nieces and nephews, Kari Petrik and husband Rodney of Minnesota, Mike Kocholek and wife, Lynn of Minnesota and Jean Tourtellotte and husband, Allen of Florida. Funeral services will be on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Dr. Kenneth Atkins officiating. Entombment will be at High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill. Friends may call two hours prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 250 Central Avenue, Oak Hill WV 25901.
