Gracie Eveline Wriston, 82, of Workman’s Creek, WV died on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 in Beckley. Born February 14, 1927 at Workman’s Creek, WV she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Harrison and Ollie Jane Cantley Workman and stepdaughter of Edith Workman of Dorothy, WV. She was a member of the Workman's Creek Methodist Church and a homemaker. Gracie enjoyed gardening and helping her family and friends. She was an avid Set Back player. Her husband, Dempsey R. Wriston; seven brothers, Basil, Joe, Ramey, Clinton, Sherman, Herman and Orville Howard Workman and three sisters, Ettie Marquis, Delphia Taylor and Delsie Workman preceded her in death. Survivors include her only son, Arnold D. Wriston of Beckley; a sister, Carrie Long of Summersville; step-brothers, Kelsey Maynor, Lynn Maynor and Gary Maynor; step-sisters, Jean Duncan, Charlotte Dugan, Ramona McElhaney and Ileatta Bailey; sisters-in-law, Beulah Workman and Flossie Workman and several nieces and nephews. A very special thank you to her niece, Jane Stover for the unselfish love and dedication she showed Gracie and for the constant care she gave throughout her illness. Services will be on Friday, April 24, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the Workman's Creek Methodist Church with Rev. Sandra Taylor and Rev. Loretta Taylor officiating. Burial will be at Workman's Creek Cemetery in Workman’s Creek. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home on Thursday, April 23, 2009 from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Online condolences may be sent at
