Glenda Jean "Linda" Stone, 85, of Oak Hill went to her heavenly home on Friday December 8, 2017.
She was a phlebotomist and homemaker.
Linda was a member of the Oak Hill Church of the Nazarene where she served in the choir, Christmas and Easter productions, and served The Family Life Center. She was a member of the Scarbro Garden Club; served her local chapters of the WV American Diabetes Association; and was an advocate for and one of the founders of the Fayette County Soccer Association.
Her husband, Joseph D. Stone, Jr. of Fayetteville, her parents, George and Lola Mullens of Summerlee, her sister, Marcelline Rhodes of Summerlee, and her brother, Marshall A. Mullens of Campbell's Creek preceded her in death.
She left a legacy in her children, James E. "Eddie" Whitmore (Barbara), Roger D. Whitmore (Pam), Debbie Holly (James),John Whitmore (Renee') all of Oak Hill, Denise Clay of NC, Steven "Butch" Whitmore (Libby), Rob Stone both of Oak Hill, Joseph D. "Joe" Stone III (Brooke) of FL, and sister, Peggy Davis of Beaver. She had 23 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Her family was proud of her when she received her high school diploma alongside her son Rob in 1995. She later received her phlebotomy certificate and worked at Fayette Clinic for a short time.
Contributions can be made to the American diabetes Association in honor of Linda.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 12, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill. Additional visitation will be on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Oak Hill Church of the Nazarene followed by the funeral service at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
