Glenda Gay Armstrong Sloan , 68, of Oak Hill, WV died on Thursday, December 25, 2008 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV. Born August 30, 1940 at Carbondale, WV she was the daughter of Thelma Jean Baber Armstrong of Mount Hope and the late Joseph Robert Armstrong. She was a disabled agent for Peoples Life Insurance. She was preceded in death by a brother, Darrell Armstong. Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Robert R. Sloan; two sons, Richard Dale Catlett of Dunlow and Robert Keith Sloan and wife, Sarah of Columbia, KY; four daughters, Ronda Gay Falk and husband, Tim of Oak Hill, Neysa Renee Green and husband, Ricky of Whitesville, Karen Ann Sloan and companion, Kevin Phillips of Fayetteville and Susan Dawn DiGiacomo of Tampa, FL; brothers and sisters, Patricia Armstrong of Scarbro, Loretta Stover of Oak Hill, Lake Armstrong of Dalton, GA, Mary Bishop of Dalton, GA, Jesse Armstrong of Mount Hope, Ronnie Armstrong of Mount Hope, Tommy Armstrong of Mount Hope and Stevie Armstrong of Glen Jean; thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Memorial services will be on Sunday, December 28, 2008 at 8:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Rev. Morris Nutter officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home. Cremains will be interred at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens at a later date.
