Gladys Burgess Kidd

Gladys E. Burgess Kidd, 79, of Oak Hill, WV died on Monday, October 11, 2004 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV following a long illness. Born January 09, 1925 at Sanger, WV she was the daughter of the late William Burke and Lillie Dora Mitchell Burgess. Mrs. Kidd was a lifelong member of the Gentry Baptist Church, Sanger. She was a retired custodian for the Michigan public school system. Gladys was preceded in death by her sons, Gary Thomas Kidd and David Leslie Kidd; son-in-law, Brian Donald Sherman; brother, Garvis Hues Burgess, Elbert Burgess and Leslie Burke Burgess and sisters, Evelyn Smith, Hessie Elder and Eva Fife. Survivors include husband, Thomas Leroy Kidd; daughter, Linda Sherman of Oak Hill; brother, Kenneth J. Burgess and his wife, Betty, of Rt 1 Oak Hill; granddaughters, Melanie M. Prevette of Oak Hill and Amber Willoughby of Fayetteville; great grandchildren, Ashton Nicole, Savanna Lynn and Brian Thomas Prevette and Bailey Brooke Willoughby and by several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Wednesday, October 13, 2004, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. Services will be on Thursday, October 14, 2004 at 2:00 pm at Gentry Baptist Church in Sanger with Rev. Bill Drennen officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill WV.
