Giles (Junior) Adkins

Giles (Junior) Adkins, 75, of Rt 3. Fayetteville, WV died on Friday, June 08, 2007 at his home following a short illness. Born October 14, 1931 at Highland Mountain, he was the son of the late Giles and Ruby Collins Adkins. He was a retired coal miner from Westmoreland Coal Co. after 27 years of service. Junior attended the Family Worship Center, Beckley and was a member of the Mt. View Church of God, Hilltop. He was a member of the UMWA District #29 and was a beekeeper for over 30 years and an avid photographer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Adkins. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Burford Adkins; two sons, Giles Wayne Adkins and wife, Brenda of Fairdale and Paul David Adkins and his fiancee', Karen of Fayetteville; two daughters, Danna Vance and husband, Rex of Beckley and Deanna Adkins and husband, Michael of Shady Spring; a stepson, Eric Statts of Fayetteville; two sisters, Opal Kessler of Danese and Wanda Friend of Portland, OR; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Service will be 2:00 PM Monday, June 11, 2007 at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Mount Hope with Pastor Mark Schrade officiating. Burial will be in Layland Cemetery, Layland, WV. Friends may call one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.
