Gilbert Waldo Waddell

Gilbert Waldo Waddell, age 97, of Oak Hill, WV passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Heartland of Beckley. Born October 30, 1913 in Hinton, WV, he was the son of the late Gilbert Summerfield and Eliza Della Goodall Waddell. Mr. Waddell worked in heavy construction in the strip mining industry and was a member of the Fellowship Memorial Baptist Church in Oak Hill. He was preceded in death by his wife Golda Faye Harvey Waddell on September 2, 2006; by his daughter, Nellie June Reitz; by two brothers, Robert Waddell and Merrill Waddell and by four sisters, Faye Bennett, Opal Bennett, Iva Walker and Eula Meador. Mr. Waddell was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are his daughter, Ellen Joan Jones and her husband Lewis E. of Fayetteville, WV, four grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 15, 2010 at the Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill, with Pastor Houston Booth officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 P.M. on Sunday, November 14, 2010. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Online condolences may be sent to www.tyreefuneralhome.com .
