A dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, Gertrude Lee Painter Atkins, 76, of Oak Hill, WV died on Wednesday, November 26, 2003 at her home. Born October 29, 1927 at Paint Creek, WV she was the daughter of the late Asa Amos and Lura Mae Williams Painter. Mrs. Atkins was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. "Bill" Atkins on Oct 21, 1993; her only daughter, Brenda June Taylor on Jan 29, 2001; brothers and sisters, Elmer Painter, Dorothy Fleming, Pauline Austin, Snowden Painter, Harliss Painter and Jewell Painter. Survivors include Sons: David Atkins and wife, Sadie Marie, of Oak Hill Randall Atkins and fiancee, Amy Campbell, of Oak Hill Grandchildren: Kimberly Taylor of Oak Hill Rebecca Redden of Fayetteville Tracy Sawyers and husband, Michael, of Oak Hill Kelly Taylor and husband, Charlie, of Germany Great grandchildren: William Redden, Jacob Ross, Breanna Sawyers and Riley Sawyers Sisters-in-law: June Atkins of Abingdon, VA Melba Painter of Canton, OH She also leaves behind beloved nephews and nieces, special beloved family friends and caregivers, Carol Sue Hall, Kelley Hall, Extend-A-Care, Karen Burh and Debra Price. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Friday, November 28, 2003, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Services will be on Saturday, November 29, 2003, at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Pastor Larry Humphrey officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill WV.
