Geraldine Humphrey

Geraldine "Jerre" Hackney Humphrey, 70, of Beckley, WV died Wednesday, November 26, 2003 at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital, Beckley after a long illness. She was born March 10, 1933 at Kincaid, WV a daughter of the late Elza C. and Claytie Baughn Hackney. Mrs. Humphrey was a homemaker and was of the Protestant faith. She was preceded in death by one sister, Gail Pryhechzewski. SURVIVORS include her husband of 50 years, Theodore "Ted" Humphrey, two sons, Mike Humphrey and wife, Jo of Durham, N.C., Jeff Humphrey of Raleigh, N.C.; one granddaughter, Emily Humphrey of Durham, N. C., one brother, Arlin Curtis Hackney of Oak Hill, WV; three sisters, Frances Hackney Johnson of Fayetteville, WV, Doris Martin Payne of Ridgeland, Mississippi, and Marylyn Henderson of Chagrin Falls, Ohio. FUNERAL SERVICE will be Saturday, November 29, 2003, at 11:00 am at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill with Rev. Bill Menefee officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity. Friends may call from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm Friday at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill. Donations of sympathy may be made in her memory to the American Lung Association. Nephews and friends will serve as pallbearers.
