Gerald Monroe Campbell, 70, of Kilsyth, WV, died at his home on Friday, June 24, 2011 following a long illness. Born June 29, 1940 at Creamery, WV, he was the son of the late William A. and Flora Minerva Thornton Campbell. He was a member of the Scarbro Baptist Church, a disabled U.S. Army Sgt., former employee of the city of Mt. Hope and a Raleigh County School Bus Driver. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers; Carl and Everette Campbell; sisters, Hazel Thompson and Audrey Allen; and half-brothers, Marion Hammond and Dewey Campbell. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Betty Sanger Campbell; Son, Christopher Campbell of Kilsyth; Daughters: Debra Loftus and husband Gregory of Madison, WV and Sharon Humphrey of Kilsyth, Grandchildren: Stephen Humphrey, Jr., Andrew Humphrey, Scott Loftus and Katlyn Campbell. Also, brothers, Paul Campbell of Scarbro, WV and Adrian Campbell of Uniontown, PA; sister, Wanda Smith of Raleigh, WV, half-brothers; Burg Hammond of Boyd, TX and Guy Hammond of Peterstown, WV. Funeral services will be Monday, June 27, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. At Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Mt. Hope, WV, with Rev. Harry Fuller officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity, WV, with Military Rites by VFW Post 3110.
