George M. Walker, Sr.

George M. Walker, Sr.,78, of Wriston, WV died Friday, July 20, 2007 at the VA Hospital, Beckley, WV after a long illness. He was born February 5, 1929, at Elk River, WV the son of the late James and Martha Jenkins Walker. He was a retired coal miner, U.S. Army veteran where he attained the rank of Sgt., an avid hunter, fisherman and camper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, George M. Walker, Jr. Survivors include his wife, Katherine Dorman Walker, two sons, Ronald Walker of Kincaid and Carl (Dorothy) Walker of Kincaid; four daughters, Patricia (Randall) Dawson of Asheboro, NC, Teresa Keith of Wriston, Julia Tincher and Sheila Walker both of Erie, PA; one sister, Violet Marie Proctor of Erie, PA; twenty six grandchildren and thirty one great grandchildren. Service will be 2:00 PM Monday, July 23, at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill, WV with Wayne Johnston officiating. Burial will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill, WV with graveside services conducted by VFW Post #3110, Oak Hill. Friends may call from 6 until 8 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
