Rev. George Allen Gallimore

May 30, 1934 — August 24, 2014

Rev. Allen Gallimore , 80, of Oak Hill, WV received his heavenly promotion on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV.

Born May 30, 1934 at Pulaski, VA he was the son of the late William M and Bessie Anderson Gallimore.

Rev. Gallimore graduated from God's Bible School and College in Cincinnati, OH with a degree in Christian Ministries. It was there he found the love of his life, Shirley Jean Livengood and they began 57 years of commitment to God, each other, their family and the churches they pastored. He was a member of the Oak Hill Gospel Tabernacle.

His pastorates included thirty-four years at the Oak Hill Gospel Tabernacle, the Jefferson Street Church of Christ in Christian Union in Circleville, OH and Cedar Street Church of Christ in Christian Union in New Boston, OH. He continued his service at Calvary Tabernacle in Pulaski, VA and the Wesleyan Chapel in Beckley until his retirement.

Rev. Gallimore was Camp President of the Mt. Olivet Camp for 15 years and had a well-listened to radio ministry in the Oak Hill/Beckley area. He faithfully served the Lord in Christian ministries for 57 years.

The ever burning desire in his heart was to preach. His ministry touched thousands of lives and only eternity will tell the extent of his calling.

In addition to preaching, he loved construction work, refinishing antiques and sitting on the back porch with Shirley watching the birds.

Surviving are his faithful, loving wife of 57 years, Shirley Jean Livengood Gallimore; a daughter, Evangeline Bickford and husband, Doug of Oak Hill and a son, Rev. David Gallimore and wife, Tammy of Eatonton, GA.

He was the proud grandpa of two grandsons, Jonathan Bickford and Matthew Bickford both of Oak Hill.

Also surviving by two sisters, Pearl Lafon and husband, Wade of Pulaski, VA and Gladys Hudson and husband, Buddy of Dublin, VA. He will be sadly missed by his family, his church family, nieces, nephews and his many friends.

The celebration service of his home-going will be on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the Oak Hill Gospel Tabernacle with Rev. David Gallimore, Rev. James Keaton, Rev. Mike Kees, and Rev. Ben Peyton officiating. Entombment will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill.

Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
