George Donald Floyd

Rev. George Donald Floyd , 89, of Robson, WV died on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Montgomery General Hospital in Montgomery, WV.

Born June 08, 1926 at Lenore, WV he was the son of the late Henry and Carrie Sturgill Floyd.

Rev. Floyd had been a minister of the gospel since 1968 serving as pastor at the Robson Church of Christ for 21 years. He was also a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA.

He served in the US Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Rose Adkins Floyd; daughter, Jacqueline Floyd; sisters, Kathryn Blankenship and Dora Gibson; and brothers, Rush Floyd, Blackburn Floyd and Billy Ray McGuire

Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Juanita Ashworth Floyd; children, Kathryn South of Beards Fork, Donald R. Floyd and wife, Rita Sue of Appomattox, VA, Debra Canterbury and husband, Tom of Lenore, Kari Sue Gaddy and husband, Buddy of York, SC, Shelia Keith and husband, Tommie of Oak HIll, Sherry Brown and husband, Rich of Kileen, TX, Terri Floyd of Mount Hope, Yvonne Campbell and husband, Bob of Oak Hill, William Jeffrey Floyd and wife, Beverly of Robson, Jason Floyd and wife, Melissa of Oak Hill; brother, Theodore Floyd of Delbarton; sisters, Flora Thompson of Ashland, KY and Janice Canterbury of Wickcliffe, OH and Lereda McNeely of Robson; twenty five grandchildren and more than 50 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor Jeff Floyd and Pastor Donald Floyd officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill with military graveside rites by Oak Hill VFW Post #3110.

Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Saturday, August 15, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 P.M.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
