George William "Bill" "Pappy D" Dickson

George William "Bill" "Pappy D." Dickson , 85, of Beckley, WV went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV. Born February 25, 1928 at Harvey, WV he was the son of the late Edgar Washington and Beatrice Donnelly Dickson. Mr. Dickson was a retired WV State Trooper with 30 years service. He drove a school bus for the Raleigh County BOE for 10 years. He and his wife, Frieda are members of the Clifftop Baptist Church on Airport Road at Beaver. He felt his most important service was his ministry and service to God. He pastored at Sweeneysburg Baptist Church for several years and also at the New Haven Baptist Church in Cool Ridge. Bill also evangelized with a group of WV State Troopers who traveled around West Virginia and surrounding states witnessing and preaching to many people. He was a US Army veteran. Six brothers, Johnny, Orville, Junior, Bob and two infant boys and one sister, Beulah Greene preceded him in death. Survivors include his loving and faithful wife of 60 years, Frieda Mae Garrett Dickson and many relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 12:00 Noon on Friday, July 19, 2013 at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor John Ed Lilly officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill.
