George C. Bailey

George Carter Bailey , 91, of Oak Hill, WV died on Monday, April 16, 2012 at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill, WV. Born August 12, 1920 at Coalwood, WV he was the son of the late James Richard and May Greene Bailey. George was a retired service manager having worked for Steen-Miller automobile dealership in Oak Hill. He was a christian and a member of the Jones Avenue First Church of God in Oak Hill. A World War II US Navy veteran, Mr. Bailey proudly served aboard the destroyer the USS Radford in the Pacific Theater. Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Gertrude Mae "Gertie" Colbaugh Bailey, one daughter, Karen Bailey Blackmon of Swansboro, NC and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the Jones Avenue First Church of God in Oak Hill with Rev. Richard Bradley and Rev. Pat Franklin officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Men of the church will serve as pallbearers.
