Gene Austin Bowen, age 83, beloved husband and father passed away peacefully on February 28, 2015 with his family by his side after a long illness.
Born February 26, 1931 at Longacre, WV he was the son of the late Clarence M. and Grace Tucker Bowen.
He was a retired coal minter having worked 35 years for Peabody Coal Company.
Gene was also a retired minister having been a pastor for the First Church of God for over 45 years.
He was a US Marine Corps veteran having received a Purple Heart in 1952 while serving in the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marian J. Bowen, two sons, one sister, four brothers, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held for family.
