Gary Collins Perry, 74, of Oak Hill, died on Monday, December 28, 2009, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born January 25, 1935 at Kilsyth, WV, he was the son of Gladys Perry Snyder of Mount Hope and the late Norvell R. Perry. He retired as a Ventilation Specialist for Mine Safety & Health Administration in Mount Hope. He was a member of the Oak Hill United Methodist Church, Oak Hill, WV, White Oak Country Club, Men's Golf Association at WOCC, Plateau Club, and former member of Mount Hope Lions Club, he served as District 29N Cabinet Secretary and was a U. S. Army veteran. Gary loved music, traveling, golfing and attending his grandchildren’s activities. In addition to his father, his father and mother-in-law, Lloyd J. and Evelyn R. Jones preceded him in death. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 52 years, Wanda Jones Perry; son, Gregory Collins Perry and his wife, Amy Callahan Perry, their children, Adam Gregory, Landon Collins, Genna Evelyn and Ann-Marie of Daniels; daughter, Jeanay Susan Booth and husband, Tom Booth, their children, Lauren Jeanay and Thomas Christopher, of Oak Hill and son, Brian Patrick Perry of Oak Hill; stepfather, Robert D. Snyder of Mount Hope; sisters-in-law, Janet Hurt and husband, William, of Glen Jean and Judy Collier and husband, Jerry, Eddyville, Ky. Services will be on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Oak Hill United Methodist Church with Dr. Charles D. Miller officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill, and WV. Friends may call from 5:30 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday evening at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill. Active Pallbearers will be his sons, Greg Perry and Brian Perry; his grandsons, Adam Perry, Landon Perry and Thomas Booth; his son-in-law, Tom Booth; his cousin, Ronnie Perry; and a special friend, Doug Mooney. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Preston, Rodney Mays, Jeff Monroe, Fred Ferguson, Dr. John D. Janney, Paul Bookman and Norville Ellison.
