Gary Wayne Adkins, 46, of Verona, VA formerly of Scarbro, WV died on Sunday, August 02, 2009 at his home as a result of complications from diabetes. Born October 27, 1962 at Beckley, WV he was the son of Richard Clyde Adkins and his wife, Shirley of Verona and Myra Shaver Gibson and her husband, Bernard, Sr. of Oak Hill, WV. Gary attended Fort Defiance High School in Verona. He was a disabled employee of the Verona Wilco Service Station. His maternal grandparents, Harry and Clara Shaver, paternal grandfather, Clyde Adkins and a stepbrother, Gregg Gibson preceded him in death. Additional survivors include one sister, Kathy Sharp and husband, Bob of Martinsville, VA; brother, Tony Adkins of Verona; one half-brother, Mike Shelton of Verona; four step-sisters, Diane Cottle of Fayetteville, WV, Kathy Rule of Staunton, VA, Deb Smith of Harrisonburg, VA and Carolyn Fisher of Fredericksburg, VA; three step-brothers, Mark Gibson, Leon Gibson and Paul Gibson all of Oak Hill; paternal grandmother, Mary Kathryn Adkins of Meadow Bridge and by several uncles and cousins. Services will be on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor Jerry Bush officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Oak Hill.
