Fred Herbert Ryan, 86, of Mount Hope, WV, died Saturday, December 28, 2013, at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV, following a short illness. Born April 25, 1927 in Norwood, Missouri, he was the son of the late Fred Ervin and Charlene Lord Allen Ryan. Fred was a Federal Mine Inspector with M.S.H.A., a member of the Oak Hill United Methodist Church, a Mason with Mountain Lodge, No. 156 of Coal City AF&AM. He was also an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Uvedis Bea Blevins Ryan preceded him in death. He was also preceded by brother Raymond and sister Jean Keffer. Survivors include two sons, Barry Lane Ryan and wife Barbara of Morgantown, WV and Keith Gregory Ryan and wife Anne Davis of Morganfield, KY, one brother Wayne Ryan of Reidsville, NC, four sisters, Delmae Walker of Aylett, VA, Lucille Farley of Daniels, WV, Dorothy Smith of Mabscott, WV and Deanna Farmer of Coal City, WV. Three grandchildren, Shawn Ryan, Kelly Giles and Sharon O'Nan. Four great grandchildren, Allison, Zachary, Landree and Grayson. Funeral service will be Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Mt. Hope, WV with Dr. Sharon Miller and Dr. Charles Miller officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park Mausoleum, Prosperity, WV. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, December 30, 2013 from 6 til 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV 25801.
