Frank E. Mauritz, 85, of Oak Hill, WV died on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill, WV. He was a 1944 graduate of Oak Hill High School and attended the Winona School of Photography in Indiana. A life-long resident of Oak Hill, Frank founded the Frank Mauritz Studio in 1948 and retired at the age of 72. He was a past president of the Professional Photographers of West Virginia and a member of the Professional Photographers of America. He received a national honor in 1994. He taught photography classes at the Fayette Plateau Vo-Tech Center in Oak Hill for many years. Frank was a member of the Oak Hill City Council and had served as the assistant mayor. He was Cub Scout Pack 8 Community Chairman in 1967, chairman of the Oak Hill Little League and a founder of the Oak Hill Swim Club. A member of the Oak Hill Rotary Club, he had served as president and was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow for 50 years of service. He was also active in the Polio Survivors of West Virginia. His wife of 60 years, Doris Mercer Mauritz; son, Frank Mauritz and wife, Lynn; daughter, Gail Treadway and five grandchildren survives him. Mr. Mauritz attended the Oak Hill Baptist Church were his service will be held on Friday, May 22, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. Rev. David Sneed officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park. Oak Hill. Visitation will be held at Oak Hill Baptist on Thursday, May 21, 2009 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Oak Hill Baptist Church, 613 Lundale Drive, Oak Hill, WV 25901.
