Frances A. Cales Thompson, age 88, of Prince, WV died Friday, February 22, 2008 at Plateau Medical Center, Oak Hill, WV after a long illness. Born March 16, 1919 at Cottageville, KY, she was the daughter of the late Simon and Alma Cox Cales. Frances was a graduate of Sandstone High School and McKendree Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed by Beckley Hospital as a registered nurse for 32 years. She was a Sunday School teacher and a 4-H leader and a member of Quinnimont Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Samuel Thompson on December 19, 1995; a son, Steve Thompson; brother, Warren Cales; and two half brothers, George and Houston Cales. Survivors include a son, David Thompson of Prince; two grandchildren, Dawn Bardi and husband, Michael of Colorado Springs, CO and Doug Thompson and wife, Sue of Palmer Lake, CO; four great-grandchildren, Shanna Jones, Aliyah Bardi, Gaige Bardi, and Kaia Bardi; three step-grandchildren, Matthew Bardi, Matthew and Tyler McQueen and a daughter-in-law, Paula Thompson. Also surviving are three nieces, Diane, Beverly, Debbie; brother-in-law, Leonard Thompson, wife, Mamie and their daughter, Dorothy Arnold, husband Bill and their sons; and by several nieces and nephews,as well as many special friends, including Barbara, Rhonda, Nadine, Linda, Arlene, Kindra, Lindsay. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope with Woody Blake officiating. Burial will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill, WV. Friends may call on Friday, February 29, 2008 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
