Frances Ora Gill Miller, 90, of Oak Hill, WV died Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, KY.
Born August 25, 1927 in Oswald, WV, she was the daughter of the late Finley Overton Gill and Audrey Copeland Gill. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Mark Thompson Miller, Sr.; her son, James Eugene “Jimmy” Miller; her great-grandson, Hunter Thompson Miller; and sister, Anna Lee Manske.
She is survived by her son, Mark T. “Tom” Miller, Jr. and his wife, Jane; daughter-in-law, Janet; grandchildren (who knew her as “MeMa”,) Marc Christopher Miller, Aaron Miller, Samuel Miller, Candice Miller, Lesley McClaskey, and Andrew Miller; as well as 8 great-grandchildren; and many cherished nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother, James O. Gill; and sister, Diane Gill Rice.
Frances was an active member of the Oak Hill community. She was a member of the Oak Hill Methodist Church, volunteered many hours at the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce information desk, and served a term as president of the Oak Hill Lions Club. She loved her membership in the Pythian Sisters as well as Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Anyone that knew her knew her love of family, of NASCAR, of bowling, of lighthouses, and of travel (much of it in the camper that she and her husband Mark would pull all over the country).
A celebration of her life will take place this weekend. Friends may gather with the family from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 27, 2017 at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Dr. Charles Miller officiating. Entombment will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, in Oak Hill, WV.
