Our precious mother and grandmother, Frances Louise Shumaker Dempsey , 95, of Scarbro, WV went to join her many loved ones on Saturday, December 22, 2018. It was her desire to remain at home and because of the care her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and J.T. Kizer as well as daughter, Brenda Aiello and granddaughter, Andrea Aiello were able to provide that wish was granted.
Born August 28, 1923 at Sanger, WV she was the daughter of the late Henry Nathan and Blanche Persinger Shumaker.
She was preceded in death by her hardworking WV coal miner husband, Wallace James Dempsey ; son, Jack Dempsey; sons-in-law, William "Butch" Whitlock and Tom Aiello; daughter-in-law, Adrian Dempsey; siblings, Virgil N. Shumaker, Edgar Shumaker, Charles Shumaker, George Shumaker, Kenneth Shumaker, Ralph Shreve, Mable Light and Lorane Dellorse; and her companion, Joseph C. Kartman.
To forever cherish Frances' memory are her children, Wally Dempsey of Cabot, Ark, Janice Whitlock of Oak Hill, Roger (Cindy) Dempsey of Sterling, OH, Ruth (Steve) Ladish of Wilmington, NC, Linda (J.T.) Kizer of Huntington, Gerald (Beverly) Dempsey of Gibsonville, NC and Brenda Aiello of Oak Hill; daughter-in-law, Linda Gail Dempsey; grandchildren, Johnna Kizer, Brandon and Andrea Aiello, the rest of the grandchildren James Dempsey, Stephen Whitlock, Tonya Palmer, David and Lead Ladish; and eight great grandchildren.
Graveside rites and committal services will be on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Prosperity with Pastor Ken Souder officiating and music provided by Quartney Settle. Burial will follow.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia, PO Box 1472, Beckley WV 25802.
