Everett Lee Rhodes

August 20, 1926 — April 30, 2010

Everett Lee Rhodes, 83, of Oak Hill, WV passed away April 30, 2010 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV. He was born August 20, 1926 at Mt. Carbon, WV. He is one of ten children of the late Vincent and Virginia Woods Rhodes. Everett was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a UMWA coal miner with more than 40 years service. He retired from the Central Appalachian Coal Company in 1986. In addition to his parents, Everett was preceded in death by sisters, Agnes Rhodes, Priscilla Rhodes, Mary Thorner and Ida Mae DeMontier; brothers, William Rhodes, Paul Rhodes and Raymond Rhodes. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joyce “Arlene “Richmond Rhodes; sons, Bruce of Oak Hill, Randy and wife Sandy of Oak Hill and Steve and wife Lorine of Oak Hill; grandchildren : Kevin Rhodes of Cleveland, TN; Jennifer Anderson and husband Clint of Charlotte, NC; Danielle Edgell and husband Scott of Fairmont, WV; Lela Mitchell of Oak Hill, WV and Stephanie Rhodes of Oak Hill, WV. Pauline Comer, a sister of Deep Water, WV and a brother, Donald Rhodes of Wilmington, Mass. also survive. He is also survived by may loving nieces, nephews, friends and three great-grandchildren. Everett was a member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church and Men's Bible Class. Honoring his request, Everett is being cremated and there will be no services.
