Evelyn E. Burgess-Burton

October 28, 1919 — April 18, 2007

Evelyn Elaine Burgess-Burton, 87, lovingly known by many as "Little Mama" and as "New Golden Girl," passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at her home. Born October 28, 1919 at Page, WV she was the daughter of the late William and Rose Sublett Frisby. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Raymond K. Burgess and William Cary Burton, Jr.; a son, Raymond Murl Burgess; sister, Willie Frisby Burgess; brother-in-law, Albert Murl Burgess all of Richmond, VA; a sister, Helen Frisby Wise of Oak Hill, WV and two infant siblings, Reba and Samuel Frisby of Page, WV. She is survived by two daughters, Sharron Burgess Richardson and Jeri Burgess Williams of Oviedo, FL; one son, William David Burgess and wife, Kathy of Charles City, VA; sister, Merriem Frisby McCormick and husband, Cecil of Oak Hill, WV; a grandson, Martin Shapiro of California and four granddaughters, Treasa Williams Schwalbach of South Carolina, Lisa Burgess-Stidham and Trina Burgess Johnson both of Maryland and Becky Gillen of Virginia. She also leaves 8 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, four nieces, three nephews and many treasured friends. She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her. A celebration of her life will be held on at 7:00 PM on Monday, July 2, 2007 at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, WV Division, 301 RHL Blvd., Station 6 & 7, Charleston WV 25311 or the American Heart Association, Ohio Valley Affiliate, 162 Court Street, Charleston WV 25301 or that a flower be planted somewhere in her memory.
